Simply telling your parents you don’t want anything likely won’t work. My dad tells me every year I don’t have to get him anything, but it’s Christmas and that just doesn’t feel right. I’d imagine your parents would feel the same way. Give them something to work with. Tell them the reason why: Mom, Dad, I’m a Cavachon Hawaiian Shirt, Hawaii Summer Beach, Cool Hawaiian Shirts OR I don’t agree with the commercialism of Christmas OR I would prefer a more modest Christmas like people had many years ago…whatever the reason except “I don’t want you spending money on me.” That won’t work. Then say, “You would make me really happy if you would please limit my gifts to socks (or other small item that you need anyway) and a small donation to (fill in charitable organization name…a food bank would be nice). This will allow them to get you something and shift the focus on you doing something admirable and kind. They will/should be proud of you and this should then make them inclined to heed your wishes. Be sure to follow your own lead and get them something modest. If you don’t like the small gift/donation idea and you think they will go for this, suggest that you would be happy if your gift was everyone volunteering together at a food bank around Christmas time.

In our pajamas, we picked our way through the snow in the dark to try and Cavachon Hawaiian Shirt, Hawaii Summer Beach, Cool Hawaiian Shirts rescue as many irreplaceable ornaments as we could: stuff we’d made as kindergarteners, baby handprints, Department-store Santa photos, that sort of thing. Miraculously, we did manage to save most of them. The feeling of kneeling on a bed of wet twigs in four or five inches of snow in pajama pants, racing against moisture and time to fumble among sharp needles with a flashlight, remains one of my most vivid Christmas memories. It’s been over twenty years. Mom has endured, and survived, many more cancers. We’ve had some bad Christmases, but thankfully not the same type of repeated-kicks-in-the-teeth bad. The ornaments are hung every year, the photos bubbled a bit from their time in the snow but mostly intact, just like us. I even managed to save and dry some fossilized popcorn that one of us, aged five, had strung on a wire between bits of construction paper.

The greater good: It is a Cavachon Hawaiian Shirt, Hawaii Summer Beach, Cool Hawaiian Shirts through and through, and it is the religion of the masses today, justified in its horrors by the underlying assumption that might is right because the majority does it. It is nothing new. It simply has a new justification. Instead of having a tyranny over the majority by the minority, as was the way of the Old Despots like Hitler and Mussolini, we have a tyranny over the minority by the majority, justified in the name of democracy and venerated to the same degree as the religions of old: we have to burn the bad stamps to save the stamp collection, and they are the bad stamps. The result is absolutely democratic in the true sense of the world: majority rule, and therein lies its exact flaw. It hardly matters whether one person with a gun justifies some horrific act, or whether fifty million people justify some horrific act. It hardly matters if Charles Manson said he had to kill some people for the “greater good” or if… certain people… argue that conservative Christians have to be forced to behave unlike conservative Christians for the “greater good.” It’s the same conceit either way—sacrificing the tangible to save a conceit. As always, I would remind people that the stamp collection isn’t even real—only the stamps are real. Similarly, no consequences for the stamp collection are real—only the consequences for the stamps are real. Everything else is human concepts superimposed onto reality.

Orleanist (House of Orleans): Orleanists are constitutional monarchists, and want to establish in France something like the Cavachon Hawaiian Shirt, Hawaii Summer Beach, Cool Hawaiian Shirts British Crown, wherein the King would reign, but would not rule. The prime minister would continue to be the democratically chosen leader of the government, but the head of state would be the King instead of the President, most of whose powers would probably be transferred to the prime minister or the cabinet. As in the UK, the King’s role would largely be ceremonial and his political importance would lie in the fact that his position prevents the prime minister from aspiring to wield excessive power, so he would be seen as a stabilizing factor and focus of loyalty, particularly during elective or Parliamentary struggles over the premiership. Most French monarchists are probably Orleanist, but don’t really expect the restoration of their candidate for the throne, Henri d’Orléans, Count of Paris, who was born in Belgium in 1933, when the law exiling heirs to France’s former dynasties was still in force. The House of Orléans is a junior branch of the House of Bourbon, descending from a younger son of Louis XIII, but it is the branch whose head has always remained French, while others died out or took up thrones abroad.
